Pick a character from the Simpsons (or possibly another series) and identify the real-life car that they would most likely drive. Forget whatever generalized car that they might drive on the show, this should be a real-life vehicle based on who they are as a character.
Let's test the waters by starting with Moe. What do you guys think?
I'd think something like an old, beat-up Grand Marquis.

I always for some reason pictured Ned Flanders rocking a big old boat of an SUV

Philip J. Fry would drive something like an AMC Gremlin.
Or an Opel Kadett C City if he lived in Europe.

he seems more like a save the world prius type. actually, he;d be the one to have stashed away an EV-1

Which is why, right now, he'd drive a Toyota Prius V.

Moe would drive a HHR that he got for a steal after all the recalls were announced. Utility for transporting booze and slightly defective like irregular oreos.

I don't know, Ned trying to save the earth by buying a Prius seems to me like it would be him not demonstrating faith in God to take care of the planet, kind of like having homeowners insurance.

Bart would drive a hypermotard because you know he's a hoon.

I think Moe is a late 80's Chrysler K-Car with 4 miss matched rims and bald tires, but spotless velour and glass.
Bart would be the Polaris Slingshot, See what I did there.
Marge would be a VW Bug so her hair would fit.

In Moe's case, I think the show nailed the sort of car he'd drive perfectly. In one episode, its a beat up old pickup truck, and in another, he has a distressed '70s or '80s landyacht with mismatched body panels (and a rubber hippie daisy on the hood). So, your Grand Marquis is spot on.
For the Simpsons themselves, Matt Groening consciously gave them cars that looked like generic 1970s American models, because when the show premiered in the late '80s/early '90s, those were cheap, bottom of the barrel transportation and it emphasized that the family wasn't well-off financially.
If the show was premiering today, with real cars, I would give Homer something like a Mitsubishi Galant or a Suzuki Forenza. Both were known for being readily accessible to people with sub-prime credit, and buying a Korean-built Suzuki in what were obviously the brand's last days in America would not have been terribly logical, so would reinforce Homer's stupidity.
